Jacksonville Employees Go Extra Mile to Serve Their Communities

Lance Garner, Rural Carrier at the Westland Post Office in Jacksonville Florida, takes volunteering to heart. Mr. Garner recently completed his training to be apart of the Community Emergency Response Team. The training was courtesy of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue. Mr. Garner is also an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts.

After 43 years, James Lake, City Carrier for the Monument Station has decided to retire.  Lake has been a City Carrier for 43 years and he has worked in the same area since 1989. Although, Mr. Lake is looking forward to his retirement, his coworkers say he will definitely be missed. Michael Wright, Manager of the Monument station says, “James is a valued employee of the Postal Service, there are two things for certain, the sun is gonna rise and he is going to be at work.”

Cheryl LeBarge, Custodian for the Arlington Post Office is everything Community. When she is not brightening up the Arlington Office with her awesome disposition, she is volunteering in her local neighborhood. She volunteers for Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to assist needy families connected with the veterans.

Mary Alexander, Manager of Shipping and Mailing Solutions, teaches a Disaster Psychology class for the Community Emergency Response Team which is sponsored by Citizens Corporation and Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.  Mary says she is always looking for more volunteers.
