Employees share time with local schoolchildren

In Glen Saint Mary FL...

Nathan King, Acting Postmaster at the Glen Saint Mary Post Office, participated in the annual "Read for the Record" campaign where local professionals are invited to participate in the event by reading to our elementary school children.

Nathan read "Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad" to three classes at the Macclenny, FL Pre-K/Kindergarten Center.

Jumpstart’s premiere national campaign Read for the Record, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, is one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy and support Jumpstart in its efforts to promote early childhood education.

Each year, the campaign has shown a national spotlight on America's early education achievement gap and highlighted Jumpstart's programs as a way to address this crisis. S
ince 2006, the campaign has:
·         Engaged 7 MILLION children
·         Raised more than $7 MILLION for early education programs
·         Provided more than 1,000,000 books for children in low-income neighborhoods

North Florida employees go the extra mile

Se Habla Espanol
In Gainesville

Gainesville, FL-- P&DC Tour 2 employees Luz Coppock, Wilfred Lebron and Robert Ortiz are often called upon to bridge the language barrier when customers are having difficulties communicating their needs to Retail Unit employees.  These employees step up to help translate our customers’ needs into successful retail sales and service. T hey feel that it is their pleasure to help the customers and get a good feeling when the customer leaves satisfied.  Another mission accomplished. Thanks for making a difference.

Jesup Post Office does their part
for Breast Cancer Awareness month

Jesup GA employees held a Breast Cancer Research Stamp and Awareness event in their lobby on October 16, selling $667 on that day. Postmaster Darryl Murray and employees had refreshments for customers amid a lobby display promoting Breast Cancer stamp sales.  They had an awesome week ending with $2,429.35 in Breast Cancer semi-postal stamp sales. Great job!
However, this is something that hits close to home Postmaster Murray since his mother is fighting stage four breast cancer that after five years in remission has come back in her lungs and bones.
"My crew gets all the credit for our success," said Murray.  "They brought all of the decorations and refreshments for the lobby event with zero expense for the post office. That's dedication, and I'm very proud of their efforts."
