Three more carriers record a million miles of safe driving


Three more Gulf Atlantic District letter carriers from have been recognized for their long-standing safe driving records.

In Monticello GA, Rural Carrier Teresa Womack recently received her million mile award.

Pictured with Womack is the Officer-in-Charge Bob Jordan.She began her career in September 1983 as an Rural Carrier Associate in Monticello GA.

In 1988 she became a full time carrier in Hillsboro GA and then in 2011 she moved back to Monticello.

This is the third million mile award given in the Monticello office.


Another million mile award was presented to Bonaire GA Rural Carrier Joseph "Dan" Shellnutt who is pictured with his Postmaster Fritz Artis.



Shelnutt started his Postal career in Kathleen, GA in July 1983 as a Rural Carrier Relief.

He later transferred to Bonaire Post Office in 1985 to serve an intermediate route with the Kathleen Post Office. 

Shelnutt became a regular carrier in 1988 in Bonaire. He was hired as an emergency hire for a sub in Perry, GA in 1979 which is what sparked his interest in working in being a carrier for the USPS.


Another Million Mile Award recently was presented to Rural Carrier Betsy Gagnon at the Maricamp Branch Post Office in Ocala FL.

 

Presenting the award are Manager Post Office Operations Ron Farnsworth, and Ocala Officer in Charge Noah Escobar, Ocala OIC.
Gagnon entered into duty in December 1979 and has been serving her customers for more than 34 years with the same great smile you see today.

The United States Postal Service and the National Safety Council have teamed up to promote and ensure the safety and health of the USPS workforce nationwide.

As a long-standing member of the National Safety Council, USPS has established an agreement with the Council that entitles all facilities to take advantage of member benefits in an effort to prevent unintentional injury and illness.

Eligible Postal employee participants of the Safe Driver Award Program include those who have a normal daily assignment that involves the driving of a motor vehicle for official business use, and who have not had their driving privilege revoked or suspended.
